Movie Review – King Kong
" Set in the 1930s, this is the story of a group of explorers and documentary filmmakers who travel to the mysterious Skull Island (near Sumatra) to investigate legends of a giant gorilla named Kong. Once there, they discover that King Kong is a real creature, living in a massive jungle where creatures from prehistoric times have been protected and hidden for millions of years. As the explorers search for the great ape, their quest puts them up against both Kong and his dinosaur enemies. Ultimately, it is the attention of a beautiful human woman that soothes Kong long enough for him to be subdued by the explorers and shipped back to New York, where his bleak future involves being put on display in front of humans... but how long can even the mightiest shackles of man hold back an ape 25 feet tall? "
OMG, what are you waiting for? go get ticket already!
No spoilers :)
A remake of the original 1933 King Kong, King Kong 2005 didn't fail to impress again. With huge expectation and high level set by the first, known to be first-of-their kind special effects, first-of-its-kind plot, famous performances and a final sequence that remains unequalled as an eye-popping cinematic experience, I would say, King Kong 2005 is as good as the old one.
With Peter Jackson, director of Lord Of The Ring, you'll be sure to catch some cutting edge CGI and effects. If you would to pick bones out from the egg, King Kong does have its own little flaws in the CGI, but it's so good that you would just get carried away by the movie... like.. a rollercoaster ride. It has a good mixture of humor, adventure, love, danger, action and superb CGI, adds up to be a successful breathtaking blockbuster of the year.
The best part of the show is they bring King Kong itself alive. As the movie goes you'll almost forgot that King Kong is actually a CGI. You see his character and recognize him as a personality. You can read King Kong's emotion and his eyes... that's the eye of a sad lonely person who need some love.
Awesome movie, I gave 8/10.
Oh yeah, as you might know, Jackson love to make 3 hours movie. So make sure you pay the toilet a visit before starting the show. Trust me, you won't want to miss any scene of the movie, even your bladder is bursting.

Movie Review - The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
"C.S. Lewis’ timeless adventure "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" follows the exploits of the four Pevensie siblings -- Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter -- in World War II England, who enter the world of Narnia through a magical wardrobe while playing a game of hide-and-seek in the rural country home of an elderly professor. Once there, the children discover a charming, peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs and giants that has become a world cursed to eternal winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis. Under the guidance of a noble and mystical ruler, the lion Aslan, the children fight to overcome the White Witch’s powerful hold over Narnia in a spectacular, climactic battle to free Narnia from Jadis’ icy spell forever. "
Updated.
WARNING! Some not so surprised spoilers ahead.
Big mistake. No, the movie wasn't that bad, but stupid me for reading some reviews about the show, some idiot compare it with Lord of the Rings. Set my expectation too high. Nothing close to LOTR, may be the computer graphics.
Bloody killing scene are minimized, all good guys didn’t die, all bad guys died, it's filmed for the kids in the first place, so it's almost save to bring kids to watch, if they don't have lion phobia. A very typical storyline of:
"Nobody -> Suddenly become hero -> Dunno can make it a not -> Someone important main/not main character died -> Turn anger into courage -> The Biggest bad guy died, enemy flee -> Happily ever after -> END."
Since it is children show, it is not correct to see so many peoples die, especially the good guys. As for the bad guys, they are meant to die in the first place. So they add a "Magic potion revive all dying GOOD people" just before the end. Now that's REALLY HAPPILY EVER AFTER coz no one dies. WAR with no/little casualties? It doesn't make sense at all.
Ok ok, I'd been very harsh. Despite the "no surprise" storyline, they manage to put everything in it nicely, the story flow is slightly slow, you can catch up easily. Good computer graphics bringing you into the world of Narnia, Dr. Dolittle style talking animals, it's still worthy watch.
I especially liked Skandar Keynes, playing Edmund Pevensie, the bad boy traitor. He got all the expressions on his face, like, you don't even have to listen to what he says, just by looking at him you'll know what he is up to next. The hatred, jealousy, regret, sorry... you could feel the essence from him.
Strange but, why the little cute blonde girl, Lucy Penvensie grown up and NOT blonde anymore, may be she dye her hair or something?
Ops.. the rating... 6/10 only.
p/s : WAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.... I'M GOING FOR KING KONG PREVIEW TONIGHT! After so many years, PREVIEW! Feel like moving ahead of other people, sitting in the most advance technology, getting the best laksa when the stall just open and the soup wasn't mix with water to cater for the later crowd...
