Movie Review – King Kong

My free movie ticket, thanks to HITZ FM and Simon.

" Set in the 1930s, this is the story of a group of explorers and documentary filmmakers who travel to the mysterious Skull Island (near Sumatra) to investigate legends of a giant gorilla named Kong. Once there, they discover that King Kong is a real creature, living in a massive jungle where creatures from prehistoric times have been protected and hidden for millions of years. As the explorers search for the great ape, their quest puts them up against both Kong and his dinosaur enemies. Ultimately, it is the attention of a beautiful human woman that soothes Kong long enough for him to be subdued by the explorers and shipped back to New York, where his bleak future involves being put on display in front of humans... but how long can even the mightiest shackles of man hold back an ape 25 feet tall? "

No spoilers :)

A remake of the original 1933 King Kong, King Kong 2005 didn't fail to impress again. With huge expectation and high level set by the first, known to be first-of-their kind special effects, first-of-its-kind plot, famous performances and a final sequence that remains unequalled as an eye-popping cinematic experience, I would say, King Kong 2005 is as good as the old one.

With Peter Jackson, director of Lord Of The Ring, you'll be sure to catch some cutting edge CGI and effects. If you would to pick bones out from the egg, King Kong does have its own little flaws in the CGI, but it's so good that you would just get carried away by the movie... like.. a rollercoaster ride. It has a good mixture of humor, adventure, love, danger, action and superb CGI, adds up to be a successful breathtaking blockbuster of the year.

The best part of the show is they bring King Kong itself alive. As the movie goes you'll almost forgot that King Kong is actually a CGI. You see his character and recognize him as a personality. You can read King Kong's emotion and his eyes... that's the eye of a sad lonely person who need some love.

Awesome movie, I gave 8/10.

Oh yeah, as you might know, Jackson love to make 3 hours movie. So make sure you pay the toilet a visit before starting the show. Trust me, you won't want to miss any scene of the movie, even your bladder is bursting.
